INTERNSHIP
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Since 2007, Stetson Lee Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine has offered a year-long, paid internship program for recent college graduates planning on attending medical school the following year. Our interns work directly with the physicians and medical team, learning to navigate an electronic medical record system, take medical, social and family histories, and record physical examinations. Interns review X-rays and MRIs from the in-office open MRI and learn to synthesize information into a list of possible diagnoses. In addition, interns have the opportunity to observe both arthroscopic and open surgeries of the shoulder, knee, elbow, spine, and ankle. They engage in ongoing research projects with the goal of publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals. We are proud that all of our interns have been accepted into medical school.
The internship program begins each year on the first of June. Qualified applicants will have recently graduated from a university, taken the MCAT, and plan to attend medical school. Interest in Orthopedics is preferred, but not required.
Applications for the 2024 - 2025 class have closed.
